Always on the lookout for good Texas Craft beer and/or breweries. What is everyone's go-to?

My current fave is Creek Dont Rise at Barrow Brewing in Salado.

Altstadt Brewery in Fredericksburg, Texas is by far my favorite. Not an IPA in the place.

Has been a few years since I went there but Bishop's Cider Company in between Dallas and Ft. Worth was good! Was beside a great BBQ joint as well!

I'm a fan of Franconia Brewing out of McKinney. Their Lager, Kolsch, Belgian Blonde Ale, and Red Ale are all tasty.

The "Anvil" in Pittsburg has some pretty good beer. If you are out in east Texas.

TUPPS- great neipa's's and stouts, cool place to hang out.
Peticolas their velvet hammer is super smooth and dangerous abv, too bad you can't buy it in stores. If you ever find it on tap get it.
Westlake Brewery is really good they are in Deep Ellum
Franconia makes some really good traditional german beers
Braindead in deep ellum is also worth a stop.

Karbach Brewery in Houston. I've never been there but they do have a brewpub and serve food. I'm drinking one of their beers now it's called Brewsanity. They call it a "Golden Strong Ale" and it has 8.5 alcohol level. It is really good. I bought a six pack (not cheap) for $9.99 at a local (Dallas area) Kroger's.

Pegasus is good place to grab a cold one and available in most stores / some restaurants.
Peticolas is awesome beer and selections, like that they control distribution of their product
Tupps has a few good choices as well
Lakewood is a good place to hang as well

After seeing how 903 Brewers in Sherman stepped up this past week to help those in need of water I am going to make a point to get up there and support them.

Lakewood is good stuff. So is Turning Point Brewery in Bedford. Check them out.

Reality. What a concept!

B52 and Southern Star located in Conroe are pretty good places to try out beer and they usually keep food trucks on standby.

So many good choices. A few favorites:

1) 512 (Austin) - Pecan Porter is great. Nut brown too. But the Whiskey Barrel Aged Double Pecan Porter is my all time favorite beer.
2) Franconia (McKinney) - Love their straightforward style and adherence to the German purity law. Dunkel or even better yet (when available), their triple Dunkel.
3) Real Ale (Blanco) Brewhouse Brown.

Bankhead Brewing Co. in Rowlett because it's only a couple of miles from where I live and they have some decent craft beers.

Any other interest in reviving this old thread?

We visited our son in San Angelo last year and stayed at the Old Central Firehouse Bed & Brew after watching a Texas Bucket List epsiode about it. We thoroughly enjoyed the stay and the Pizzeria & Taproom. We did get a pickle pizza and it was good!

I'm guessing there are other places that have a self pour tap wall but that's the only time I've been to a place that had it. You get a card to use the wall and it tracks what beers and how many ounces you get and then you pay for your total when done. And interestingly, it will automatically cut you off if you get too many ounces. Enjoyed a few different craft beers there!

Every time I do the craft / micro brewery thing I end up thinking I would rather had a Shiner Bock. Some of the craft stuff is ok. However, getting it is limited and expensive. A lot of it just isn’t very good.

I am consistent on what I like for drinks. Not big on variety. For beer Shiner Bock. For soft drink Diet Mt Dew. For Mixed drink either a Crown and Diet Coke or Margarita.

I will put Diet Mt Dew, Cointreau and Hornitos Plata Tequila together for a margarita like drink. I like it. Pretty cheap drink. Mix it in 32 Oz Yeti type cup.

I was in a craft beer bar with some of the younger crowd at work not long ago. They were ordering craft beer or those nasty seltzers. One remarked,” I can’t believe you are going to order a Shiner Bock, try something different”. My reply was “I know what I like.”

Olds….lol.

My favorite is when we head down 281 to visit family in Bulverde near San Antonio. The Real Ale Brewing Company. They are in Blanco a cool little town along the way. They have some really good beers, my favorite is Firemans Light and some great Whiskey. Inside where you buy products they have a walkway overlooking all of the machinery.
A large area outside with tables etc. As far as food I was disappointed when all I saw was a Truck selling Cajun food. That was until I got my order and started eating it. It ended up being some of the best Cajun food I've ever eaten. Definitely an awesome place off of the beaten path with great beer and Whiskey.

Schiner. The premium is great. The light is great. The oriole is great. The sea salt and lime is great. The black is great especially with ice cream. All their beer are really smooth lager type beers. None of that burn your throat IPA [censored].

I just stick with their Shiner Bock. Solid beer. 90% of the others I have tried have me thinking I should have ordered a Shiner Bock. Some of them make you think that you may have just drank horse piss. Some nasty craft beers out there.

A few good ones along the way. The favorite brands in some countries are decent. Tusker in Kenya was good. Jamaica can keep Red Stripe. Shing Tao in China was good.
