Many companies offer boat insurance. I am looking for boat lift insurance. Based on the comments in this forum, I contacted World Wide Marine. I was told by World Wide Marine that they have no way to cover boat lifts.

Please comment if you are willing to share your knowledge/experience on this issue.

Home owners?

I appreciate the suggestion. I've tried the home owners route and gotten 3 responses: (1) it's covered as personal property with maximum of $26K, (2) answer 1 was wrong, but it's covered as a boat "furnishing" with maximum of $1500, (3) answers 1 and 2 were wrong, we can't tell you if you have coverage until you file a claim. I filed a claim. Still waiting.

I think the boat furnishing answer is pure BS.

Ideally, I'd like to include the lift in my boat policy, but have not found any carriers with this option.

We have it on our house at PK, It is actually a rider attached to our homeowners policy, so no your homeowners policy doesn't cover it directly but depending on your carrier you can add it as a rider.

After getting three different responses from my homeowners company, the last one of which was: You will have to file a claim to find out. So I did file a claim on my boat lift that was totalled in a storm in May. Yesterday, I was told that the boat lift was covered as "other structures" not personal property. The settlement was for the cost of a new lift less the homeowners deductible.

Coincidentally, I received a private message yesterday from a fellow member of TFF that the lift should be covered under other structures and offered to look into it for me. Many thanks to that member for reaching out.
