Anyone bought and tried the refurbished Ionics? They are half price….just wondering if they are a waste of money.

I’ve never seen one, where did you see them at?

LithiumHub’s eBay page https://www.ebay.com/itm/314538698036
They have most of the batteries they sell on there for about half price. The 12v 50Ah is only $175. The only things they don’t have, that I’ve noticed, is 36v batteries and chargers. They have about a 97% satisfaction rating. Hundreds of reviews.

I think I’m a tight [censored] just enough to try it. Think I’m gonna order a 24v 50Ah and a cranking 125Ah 12 volt.

You savvy with chargers? Do you know if I bought a 3-bank charger and series connected to banks, if it would charge a 24volt? I know you can series two regular chargers, that are the same make and model, and charge a 24 volt lead acid.

Not so much with the chargers, but I don’t think you can get 24v out of a 12v charger. I’d definitely google that one.

They are dang sure cheaper, but 30 day warranty. Man, I don’t know if i could do it, I don’t have good luck.

Can’t charge 24v with a 12v charger. Ionic makes a 24/12 dual bank charger.

Well. Ya can, but it probably ain’t the best idea. I found out that the dual pro 3 bank charger is essentially three completely separate chargers in one case. I could series bank one and two to generate a 24 volt combined output, then use the 3rd bank to charge a single 12v battery. The chargers I have are not compatible with lithium, so I bought a Noco genius pro 10x3. So it’s a moot point. roflmao

I figured I would lose over 150 pounds out of the bilge. I have 2 oriellys group 31’s at 58.5lbs each. One group 31 Bluetop at 61.4 pounds, and a Bluetop 34 at 38.4 pounds. I have a three bank dual pro and a single dual pro.

The Ionics weigh 17.5 each for the 12v 50Ah (which I decided to go with since they are slightly cheaper than a single 24), and the 12v 125Ah weighs 34.2 pounds.

$745 for all three batteries with free shipping. Almost $400 less than what I paid for the original 4 optima’s.

I went all in with Ionics almost 2 years ago. 3 50’s, a 125 and their charger. Replaced 3 group 29’s, a group 31 X2 and a dual pro charger. Lost about 190# and have to say, they still amaze me.

Ionic batteries have been around quite a while. Most of the returned batteries are returned due to owner inability to install correctly, charge correctly, or link their out dated phone to the Bluetooth features. I have talked to the guys at LithiumHub and they said the batteries function as if they are new, the main differences being cycle counts. None of them are beyond 1/4 of their expected cycles. So I can expect 75% of the lifespan of a new battery for half the price. Sounds like a win to me. I just bought them and paid $530 LESS for them than I did my Optima batteries. My Optima batteries are worn out after 3 years and never really were that great from day one. I wound up adding a 4th battery to get though the day with pumps running and electronics running….even with putting the console stuff on standby when I was in the trolling motor.

The 3 batteries I bought theoretically have more power and runtime than the 4 they are replacing. I also have a crack on one of my chargers (going on 4 years), so I have been hesitant to clean the bilge of the boat for fear of ruining one of them. I needed a new charger, could use new batteries, and decided to go ahead and do it. I bought three Ionics, and a Noco GenPro 3x10 $1050 shipped. If it lasts 3 or 4 years, it’s money in the bank.

I’ll be the test mule. cheers

They may be some of the ones I returned awhile back. Three 12v 50ah batteries would not last more than 4-5 hours in a moderate use day. FWIW, ask how many hour charge cycles on each battery. Good luck.,

Ionics have been great batteries, I have sold and installed a ton of them. Their chargers have gone through a phase or two, but you will not go wrong at all with the NOCO. The NOCO is in my opinion the best all-around charger available.

As with any used piece of electronics, there is no guarantee.

You said it clearly, most returns are user error or just not knowing how to wake them up after running dead.

Well they sent me a brand new one. Already linked the bluetooth and it has 61% charge. 100% perfect “health” and only 1 charge cycle. …not bad or $395. [Linked Image]
