There are a number of Abu reels available in the $50-60 range. Some are currently on sale/clearance for even less. Looking for recommendations for the best Abu reel in this price range. I know you may have other brands you like better but I want to know which Abu reel so I can consider that model when comparing to the other brands' models in the same price range.

ABU Black Max is a decent reel. I had one sitting in my garage for about 5 years; I believe one of my son's college friends left it behind because we did not buy it. Anyway, I decided to try it last spring, and I was impressed. It casted a weightless senko really well and landed two fish.

Black Max. At 50 bucks it's more than serviceable. I have one that casts a mile and at that price, it's disposable when it craps out.

Thanks for the responses. I just bought a new Lightning rod for $25 (Pure Fishing sale) and was looking for a reel to match. I had a low profile budget Abu reel many years ago and was interested in how the current models perform. Thanks again.

I have two of the Silver Max models I use regularly. They cast well and I’ve had no issues. This is with every weekend use. One is about 6 years old. I just oil them regularly and wipe them down.

I was going to tell you to look for a used Ambassadeur Black Max 1600C. However, it seems prices have gone up quite a bit since I bought mine. I got a package deal of 3 for $100. Good luck finding a deal like that today. It's a smaller round reel very capable of handling light lures and wind. And both at the same time.
