not an avid hybrid fisher but ran into a school today in front of the ridgewood marina. caught them until our arms got tired.. if you like hybrid fishing, you might show up in front of the marina about an hour and a half before dark with a large sassy shad.. alot of baitfish hanging in that area of the lake. so it might be a evening feed for few days, until the shad move on.. ... never seen so many hybrids gathered and feeding in one area.. Kept 3 for dinner. Most were 16 to 18 inches.

COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

yes it was,.Waco.., magical to say the least.. a hybrid almost every cast.. sometimes as soon as it hit the water they nailed it,, we were reeling them in from 40 yards out, or right at the boat.. cast the lure out, count to 5 then a slow to medium retrieve.. the white sassy shad, and chartruese sassy shad was what we threw but they likely would hit anything they could see.
I I could make it back out there this evening I would sure go check it out for a repeat. the hybrids usually hang out near the dam, but the baitfish have moved, and so have they,. the birds sure knew what was about to go down.,.

we were actually crappie fishing in the area and having little success,, so I asked my son, is there an area you want to try, and he said how about the marina,, we went there and as we were going into it, we saw thousands of fish so we stopped, then the water started boiling behind us.. I asked my son after the trip what made him decide to go towards the marina and he said he just got a hunch,, I told him sometimes God doesnt give you exactly what you want that day, but for whatever reason, he will give you something that might be even better.. God has a very good sense of humor.
I told him we catch crappie pretty good all year long, but we have never caught hybrids until our arms were tired.ha
I told him being we baptized him in lake Waco, he has a lifelong connection with that lake and special things will happen..
The hybrids were so thick, the birds couldnt dive, they would hover over the water trying to grab a shad., and this was a large area..

Couple questions for ya leanin post...

Has that lake been getting a lot of rain? If yes, was the water that area stained?

What water depth were you finding the Hybrids in??

Do you recall the water temp??

That's awesome, I have not been on the lake at all since last fall. I can usually find the hybrids in 1 of 3 places and have not ventured out much more than that. I will defiantly give the Ridgewood marina area a look next time I'm out.
