Just finished up a 3 day tournament in West Monroe, Louisiana. 3 days on 3 different lakes!! Day one was D’Arbonne. Day 2 was Caney Lake, and day 3 was Poverty Point!! PP was off limits since mid January so we didn’t get over there. We’re prettty familiar with D’Arbonne but never fished Caney. My full time gig is an Insurance agent and with current renewal rates I’ve been slammed trying to quote and requote folks she’ll shocked by increasing rates. Clay fished Caney Tuesday and D’Arbonne half a day on Wednesday. We had to be off the lake by noon Wednesday. I got here about 7pm just in time for Johnny’s Pizza! We were in the right area on D’Arbonne just had a couple we needed not bite. We casted 1/8oz slab syndicate jigs in Ginger Truce to fish. Hard part about D’Arbonne was there were fish everywhere you looked! We were in 10th after day one. Day 2 we moved to 7th on Caney. Several teams blanked or didn’t catch 5 fish on that lake. The water in Caney is cleaner than the water in the faucets at the rental we stayed at in W Monroe!! The fish clay found were gone 2 days later. We found them 3 miles up the lake but the bite there got tough after the first couple hours! We casted 1/16oz slab syndicates in Bad Shad on 4lb line to get bit there. Broke a couple off and lost a few. It’s a pretty lake! I’ll be back! Day 3 was PP in Delhi and it’s a shallow muddy bowl with open water roamers. We were in the right area but the wind made it hard to capitalize on several opportunities. We did manage to sack up 12.57 on 5 with a 2.96 big fish that moved us up into 5th place. Had the hot seat for a little while and coming home with some hardware and a little spending money so can’t complain! Back to work a few days, then back to D’Arbonne! Thanks to everybody that helps us out along the way! We couldn’t do it without y’all. Check them out and tell them we sent you! Slew

Great job fellas! Good luck when you go back.
Todd, Johnny's pizza is a mainstay for my wife and I every time we go back home. Her folks live just a few miles from PP. That lake holds some toads! I believe that's where the state record came from or at least it used to be. I've never been able to take my boat there but I drool every time I drive by it!
Just curious, do you remember what the water temp was there?

Just curious, do you remember what the water temp was there? I remember it was 54-56 Thursday and Friday but I can't remember what it was at PP. It was cold that night and all day Saturday so I'm guessing 50-52. I think my brain had frostbite Saturday it was so cold with the crazy N winds. There was folks catching black crappie on Caney Friday that were spewing eggs already. The 3 pounder from Thursday there was caught in grass in 2' FOW under a cork. We never even looked that shallow but we thought we had em in 40 FOW roaming in schools. Those fish were gone on Friday and we bounced N a few times checking shallower water and then punted and went in a cove and caught 5 swimmers and by the time we did that and went back up North we were late for the party! There's fish all over on D'Arbonne but the kickers are hard to find for sure. It's a fun lake for sure though and I'll get Johnny's again!! Win! Win! Thanks again for all the support ya'll! Slew

Winning paid $25k. Past that you don't break even. Crappie fishing payouts are nowhere near bass payouts. But we're not having to bass fish all day either so there is that!
