Castledine commenting on the TAA tournament from last week, and says he wishes the BPT and BASS would put on a throwback tournament. I think that would be a lot of fun, like an All-Star kind of event. How would you design it?

Just like the TAA did.

I’m not sure where I stand on the waypoint rules, seems tough to regulate. I also think a day or 2 of practice would make it a more even playing field for everyone.

I would like to see a surprise lake. Kind of like MLF did at first.

make it like the old B.A.S.S. MegaBucks format with a twist, take a lake and break it up into 9 sections and each competitor has a time limit in each section before moving on to the next section, then total the entire day, do this over three days...like golf, anyone can play a good hole, but who can play all the holes well to win in the end, then you will see who is the most versatile...

Do it like BASS did the first Classic. Get everyone on a plane and tell them in the air where they are going to fish!

I agree. The original format was pretty good. Suprise lake, no practice, no 100k rigs, etc.. Just a basic graph set up and a short practice time. Thats what normal people have to deal with which is what makes it popular

5 fish
18’ boats with 150’s
No poles
No spot lock
No FFS
No side and down (depth only)

Then I could afford to look like a pro. Haha.

Those all sound like fun. I would also like them go to a relatively obscure lake.

You can’t pick and choose which technology you want. It’s old school all the way, any boat, any motor hp. You want a jet drive, go for it.

No graphs with GPS, flasher ONLY.
Spotlock TM cannot be used, no penalty for accidentally hitting the button, but you have 10 seconds to un-spotlock or you get DQ’d.
No shallow water anchors.
No “land jumping”, like Poche did.
5 fish, dead fish 2lb loss.

I would promote land jumping, that’s entertainment

Might as well throw a boat race in. Make all the boats tillers- throw a few buoys out there and make them run 20 laps..😆
