Does anyone use Garmin, went to see new boats and getting a new fishfinder and saw they were on sell. Don't know anyone that has one, but can't beet the price. I don't know how good is the side scan, but 10 inch touch scree was 999 from 2100. 12 inch was 1499. That does include the transducer too,.2d, sidescan, down scan.

We mainly crappie fish, but target catfish, Bass also from time to time. We use livescope for all of them.

The Garmin side scan is very good now. Much better than it was several years ago. I run all Garmin graphs on my boat and have no complaints.

RDZ, you won't be disappointed. I've had the 9" for about 4 years now and I love it. The one thing I can tell you is, at least on mine, when you sidescan, you get the best image and detail at idle. My buddy has a Lowrance and he can sidescan at 5 or 6 mph. It's the one thing I don't like and I may just not have my settings right. I've found that I get the best detail by balancing the brightness and contrast with the right depth. In really shallow water, I have to set the brightness pretty low but in deep water I have to set it pretty high.

Also, don't get caught up in the mistake of thinking that there are no fish in a certain area at certain times of the year. During the winter months when the fish are buried up in the mud, you won't always see them on the graph. Well, you'll see some of them but not all. Scan a flat and if you see plenty of baitfish, try that area. This past winter, I scanned one of my regular winter spots and didn't mark any good fish, but at the urging of my buddy, we drifted the area and caught 2 fish over 40 pounds.
