Last year I planted two plum trees and two peach trees. Should I spray them with anything? I'm not looking for them to produce fruit this year, would rather them focus on root and branch development. I've never grown them before. Thanks for the help.

You are correct in not letting them produce fruit for at least the first 3 years. You want bigger branches. Pick all those small peaches and let the energy be focused on them growing. You really don't have to spray anything unless you see web worms. You can spray with NEEM it's organic and will kill all unwanted pests. You can get NEEM at any Home Depot or Lowes.

One other thing - they say you should not be mixing peach trees and plum trees, but being you only have 2 each you should be OK. The plum tree has a nemisis and it's called the Plum Curculio Worm and it is very hard on Peach trees. I had a couple of plum trees on my property then planted over 250 peach trees over the next 5 years. I ended up killing the plum trees to make sure I would not have that problem.

How do you manage 250 peach trees

i have some peach seeds, that we can trace back to my Moms family from Scotland

she has 2 trees left in her yard

I have some people come and pick them, the peach trees only live to be 20 years old, phase 1 is now 20 years old, there is only 7 trees left in that phase. I’m now down to around 120 trees. I’m gonna switch over to Pecan trees now, I’ve planted 45 so far.

Thanks for the information. I have them separated by about 40 yards, so hopefully that Plum Curculio Worm will not be a problem. What's a good treatment for that?

Thanks

Is there anything I can do about the suckers coming up from what I guess is the root graph point? I've already cut them three times and need to do it again.

Thanks
