Was contemplating getting a membership with BoatUS just in case my motor ever quits and I get stranded miles from the nearest dock and need a tow (usually Lake Ray Roberts and Lewisville). Seems like a good idea. Does anyone have any experience with them or other similar tow service? Thanks.

Not personally, but I've heard nothing but good things about them. I have the gold membership; fortunately I haven't needed it. I've met a few of their captains and they all seemed personable and competent. Where I fish, if I ever need them they will be sending the airboat to get me, and I know it'd be mighty expensive without the membership. Many years ago I had launched at the Conroe dam and was fishing the north end of the lake. At 11:40 PM, 38 degrees and raining, I was on my way back to the launch site when my crankshaft broke just south of the 1097 bridge. Wish I'd had a membership then.................. It was a loooooong cold troll back to the ramp on the electric motor.

Both Sea Tow and Boat US can be good and bad. The more contractors they have in an area the better. Usually on a lake someone will help you get in, but if you have to use either company without being a member it is very expensive.

I'm a member of Sea Tow because I fish the coast in both South Louisiana and Texas. It is cheap insurance. In the event something happens where they don't have coverage, they will cover the cost up to a certain amount. They also provide trailer coverage during transport. I've never had to use them, but if I do and don't have them, it ain't cheap.

Would not recommend Progressive. Had their towing service, broke down and 45 min later got ahold of someone who could assist, but while waiting a super bass boater gave me a tow to the ramp. Tried to get reimbursed from Progressive, but needed. a receipt. Was a member for over 14 years with no claims, terminated policy.

Yep...Agree on Progressive ! Had it for one year & dropped...they assured me I had roadside assistance when I bought the policy & when I needed help at 4 am they said sorry...we don't cover that.

iI have been a member with Boat US since I bought my first boat 10 years ago. I am on Lewisville and they are located at Eagle Point Marina there that is where my boat is . Over the 10yrs they have brought me gas twice. My buddy had them also and he had to be towed a couple times. They are great the cost is low.

just a guy trying to catch a fish.
