I have a catfish pro baitcaster with 30 lb vicious ultimate and a steel wire double drop leader with a 2 oz bank sinker so much question is 3o plus yards a a good casting distance for this setup I've been practicing in tge drive way and I hardly ever backlash as well. I'm doing this every once and a will till I can actually put it to use .

If you can cast without backlashing that is good. A good distance depends on where you are fishing. In some of my favorite spots I only cast 20 feet. The rod has a great deal to do with how far you can cast. And you can add more weight if you need to cast further. Keep practicing and let us know how you do. thumb
