We rented a house on Cedar Creek for mother's day and I've never been on the lake. I'm going to be taking a couple different family members out to try and get them on some fish, most have little to no fishing experience. Any tips, patterns, lake hazards to be aware of would be greatly appreciated. The house we rented looks to be on the north side of the lake near the 334 bridge.

Yep. It’s a dock fishing lake for numbers.

Go get some minnows and crappie hooks and look for brush piles.

Pretty much the entire lake from the 334 bridges south all the was to the dam is safe except some long shallow points that may come out further than you think. 334 bridge north to the 175 bridges? On your own. Shallow, stumpy & usually pretty muddy w/the typical south winds.

Sandbass and hybrids are always fun if your family is not great at casting to the docks! Squarebills around any rock will usually get you few bites as well for largemouth. Check out the humps on the west side between the dam and the spillway for sandies and hybrids. Key ranch area hump usually has some schooling fish this time of year.
