Check out the Palomar on Animated Knots and the Marinews websites. Do you agree with these? I thought the final loop that goes over the bait should come over the entire knot. On both of theses websites it cinches down onto the hook. I saw an article with an Elite pro that said this is a common mistake when tying the Palomar. Your Thoughts?

WarEagle1982 I agree.. the Palomar Knot is not correct as shown in those two illustrations.
I have always made sure to have the second loop at the top of the knot as well.
Here is the correct way to tie a Palomar Knot shown in Pix and explained by BASS Pro Shaw Grigsby.

That PR Knot is used offshore and is basically like a Chinese finger cuff done with the braid that cinches down on the mono tighter as the leader line is pulled by a fish. I have used it on Tuna over 100#.. good knot

Whats your thoughts on the "Davy Knot"? It looks very simple and it is said to be a 100% knot. Does anyone use this for braid? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yybBYDfwrHII see that that is for fly fishing more than anything else.... Nevermind.

I thought the final loop that goes over the bait should come over the entire knot. You are correct. Final loop should be against the base of the knot (at the top of the hook eye). Not looped around the bottom of the eye.

Been using this knot on all lines to all hooks and swivels for 5-6 years now. Incredibly strong, forgiving to tie (self corrects as you cinch it), abrasion resistant

Been using this knot more frequently on presentations where subtle movements can be key Its not as strong as a doubled uni loop knot, but it stays locked over time (wont eventually cinch down like the doubled uni loop knot) and gives more freedom to the lure compared to the doubled uni loop knot
