Bought a Thumponater from Fonso. Thing works great and I love being able to control the speed and pause it from my phone. Had it for a few weeks and have caught a LOT of stripers and sandies already.

Sadly, I purchased this Helix G3 from CJ Oliver (jackwabbit) here on the forum on 2/12/2022. Humminbird products are hard to come by right now so I thought this was the best option to finish up my electronics before the season started.

Yes, I asked if there were any known issues and I was told told “no, not a single issue”. He didn’t list any issues on his post. I thought it was odd that a guy would show up with a graph and leave the screen was so dirty I had to clean it off the best possible to make sure there were no cracks. Now I understand why he left it so dirty. I couldn’t see the marks at the top of the screen. I put the cover back on, paid the money and went on about my way.

The marks are very hard to see unless you’re in the sunlight. You can’t see them at all if the graph is powered on and there is any background color up. I took the new boat out for the first time this past weekend and that’s when I noticed the issue. Once the sun got up and hit the graph the marks stood out as clear as day. I sent some pictures to a well known humminbird rep and he believes that it may be moisture between the panels.

I sent CJ the pictures and asked if was aware of the issue, trying to be polite to start the conversation, and asked if it had ever been in water. Again, no issues that he was aware of… I asked to get my money back. I ran the graph one time, still have everything sold with it and told him that I hope he understands my concerns with the graph. Needless to say, he tried to flip it around like I did something to graph and he had already spent the money. He said it was between me and Humminbird now. SMH. Some people have no shame. He then sent me an old picture with the graph powered up like it had no issues. You can’t see it with the graph powered on and it’s even very hard to see without direct sunlight. After examining his photo and knowing where to look, you can barley make it out. See the picture with power on.

I know, I bought a used graph. I should have backed up when I seen how dirty it was. I was just excited to get my hands on one in this drought. You’d like to think the fellow fishermen are better than this.

Big thanks to kingdad101 for the free Eagle FishMark 320 head unit. Got it hooked up yesterday and works great. When opportunity arises I will be paying it forward.

I want to say when a customer brings a boat in and it looks like hell because of the abuse they do to it and I ask how long has he had the boat and they tell me 20 years and then they do damage to it and try to hide it from anybody that’s going to work on there boat it’s a bad deal to start with because we had a customer that damaged his V bottom point and they put paste when he installed a keel shield on his boat then left a gap so they could pour fiberglass resin down the center to try to fix the hole so now they have added all types of problems to removing it while working on the keel shield to take it off, it took us a day and a half to cut scrape and wire brush the [censored] they put on it and still couldn’t get it all off so we got what we could off and had to put the new one on because if not he wouldn’t be fishing because it would of sunk on the water. So the first thing he said was why is there stuff still on my boat that was suppose to be original but was not, no was Ranger is going to sale a damaged boat that bad. If his name is need I’ll add it but he knows what up with that problem.
