What type of knot do you use? Palomar is pretty dang quick but probably wouldn't work on flies or small grubs.

Depends on the presentation I want. Double clinch usually for ultra light unless I need a loop then I'll use a figure eight. I use a figure eight for almost all my loops. I use Palomar for almost all my heavier tackle.
The problem isn't speed in tying. Just having to dig thru the tackle box. Get the lure out. Put the other lure away. Tie the new lure on. Adjust the reel. I got spoiled w/ just changing rods when I wanted to change lures and I've had to get over it when all I can comfortably bring is 6 or so rods on my yaks.

I carry 4 rod/reel combos with me, 3 baitcast, 1 spinning. I only use the spinning rod for finesse plastics and a tube. I always have a tube tied on. If I get hung on something behind me its my fault for not paying attention. It doesn't happen very often.
