I'm planning on purchasing a Cobra Fish 'N Dive. Does anyone have any idea about what accessories I should make along with my purchase. Also, after total purchase, any idea around how much money I'll be spending.

Excellent choice of a yak
We both have Fish n Dive's

you will love it,stable a ton of storage & you can carry anything you want, because it will handle 600 lbs

Here are some things we did to ours:
1. First buy some kayak handles to put on by your seat, they will help to handle your yak better, moving it & stuff like that

2. you need some rod holders
we bought Ram mounts 1 1/2" ball & some aluminum square tubing & some flat aluminum to put on top of your square tubing, then you can mount Fish Finder & rod holders on that bar. We attached the ball to our rectangle center hatch. works great
I will try to post a pic later today

The only holes we drilled in our yaks was for the handles & then to mount the ram ball on our hatch cover.

3. You will need a kayak cart, because you can't carry it by yourself

We made our kayak cart out of 2 wheel dolly
purchased at Harbour Freight for 19.99
works great.
Wait for pic on this also

4. Paddle leash
5. Anchor & drift chute
6. Scupper plugs for the tank well behing the seat, we made ours out of practice golf balls - get them at Wally world
they are what antenna balls like from Jack in the Box are made out of
7. Don't buy a cheap Life vest, get one made for yakers, they are more comfy
We bought our MTI PFD's at Galyans in Arlington, I didn't like what Bass Pro or Cabelas had because they weren't made for paddling.
Lotus & MTI are both good paddling vest. You can check out there web sites
Expect to spend at least $50-100 on a PFD, Remember you can't put a price on YOUR LIFE

8. some good floating rope to make a wading line to attach to you when you are wading & pulling your yak behind you.

9. On all ropes, drift chute, anchor, & wading rope, make them all with some sort of quick release in case you get in some kind of trouble

10 you need a loud whistle for safety & always carry a first aid kit

11 carry an extra 2 piece paddle in your hatch, just a cheapie for emergencies, kinda like carrying a spare tire

I'm sure others can lend some advice

Good luck & you will love your FND
we are leaving for Corpus Friday with our's

I will post pics later today

Thanks so much, that really helps. Sounds like you have quite a setup. Any idea about the total cost?

sorry it took so long to reply, we are getting all ready to go to the Gulf this Friday

we bought our yaks from www.upsports.com

they were shipped to us
we each got the Fish n Dive package deal

we bought our handles from a kayak store for
$ 20 a pair

we had PFD's, paddles, anchors because we also have 4 other kayaks

we purchased drift anchors at Academy for $10 each

we made our aluminum bar ourselves, just bought hardware & RAM mount

Just remember that after intial cost of purchasing yak & accessories, then that's it!!!

No gas or outboard oil to buy.

Kayakin is very affordable compared to having a Bass boat payment!! We have been there.

Just be creative & watch for bargains at Wally World. We bought our fish finders from Walmart for $ 40 each, Eagle Fish Easy, they were closing them out.

Hope you get your yak soon

I'm actually looking for something used now, monetary reasons obviously, and I have a feeling nobody that owns a Cobra Fish 'n Dive will be wanting to sell there's. If they have that nice of a yak, I'm sure they want to keep it. So, I'm looking for recommendations on other kayaks. I'm looking at 3: 1)Ocean Kayak -- Drifter 2) Malibu Ocean Sports -- Pro Explorer 3) Wilderness Systems -- Pungo. Any recommendations?
