I dont own a bass boat, but I do have a kayak. I have been bank bass fishing all of my life. [41] Just recently got the yak. I'm going to enter a bass fishing tourny in my yak. I would like to hear from someone who has done this. And I will take any and all suggestions/advice. I know I will get some stares when everyone else is taking off in their skeeters and I'm paddling off in my yak. I know it will be alot of fun regardless! Thanks in advance! G.

Not such a bad idea - Other yak fishers have caught real big ones.

the problem would be the live well needed to keep the fish in good condition during the tourney, Most tourneys fisherman get points deducted if the fish die, and I don't think it is too cool to fish for money or prizes especially at the fishes expense.

I have been bass fishing with my yak for several months now. I love it. I have never thought about enternig a tourney with mine though. Granted, you could probably get to places that they could not, but they could go all over the lake moving from spot to spot without breaking a sweat. But, most importantly "Hook-Line&Sinker" is right about the well being of the fish you do catch. But hey, more power to you. If, I was not so out of shape, I would consider it. Good luck.

On the livewell issue: I bought this soft nylon bag that has a foam ring at the top of it to keep it floating, it stays in the lake and I think it should work just fine for keeping the bass in, while I return to the weigh-in. I think it was designed for tube/wade fishermen. I would never knowingly harm a bass more than nessary to C.P.R. catch, picture, release. Thanks guys for your input, keep it coming. G.
