Is there anything special about the gear track from yakattack or is it just t-track?

Their gear track is compatible with most all other kayak track systems that i know of. Meaning same inside track dimmensions.

If you are talking about as far as t-track used in shop settings... The dimensions might be similar but i beleive the main difference would be apperance and how its mounted. Usually track is designed in to the deck so that its flush. This is obviously difficult to acheive if you ar adding track to a boat that doesnt come with it. The gear track has a slopped edge in order to acheive a flush look. That would be hard to achieve with shop T-track.
