I was ask: What is the 'backing' for? One, to fill up the reel and two, sometimes a saltwater fish like a bone fish can rip off 100 yards of line on its first run. "100 yards of line, yea, right!". https://youtube.com/shorts/2n4s-fcePCI

Caught my first bonefish while fishing for seatrout with baitcaster...set the hook as I thought it was a trout... and swear I thought my reel was going to explode, the drag was making a noise I had never heard before... held reel away from my face expecting parts to start flying.
