I was ask: What is the 'backing' for? One, to fill up the reel and two, sometimes a saltwater fish like a bone fish can rip off 100 yards of line on its first run. "100 yards of line, yea, right!".

Great video. Backing is also for freshwater carp.

Caught my first bonefish while fishing for seatrout with baitcaster...set the hook as I thought it was a trout... and swear I thought my reel was going to explode, the drag was making a noise I had never heard before... held reel away from my face expecting parts to start flying.
