Re: Ibock - 03/29/24 04:01 AM

I was bored one day and I was on tackle warehouse looking at stuff I’ll never buy and seen Evergreen had one that was a little over $1200. I thought to myself surely someone isn’t going to pay that but I also thought no one would ever buy a NRX and one day I was at the local tackle shop and a guy came in and bought 10 of them at one time.

Nobody. There are no regulations in the fishing gear industry. Anyone can claim anything.

This is ENTIRELY out of hand.

I can’t see more than $150 for a rod.

Yeah. Cause if they are claiming 1.5 more sensitive than a NRX or Conquest, they are dreaming!

ain't no way I'm spending 1300 on a rod that's two brand new NRX's and what 4 GLX's? Nah that is crazy.

New GLX's are $550 eeks

Re: Ibock - 03/31/24 02:54 PM

If a rod cost more than 250 I won't buy it. Kistler when he runs one of his sales works just fine for me. Usually when a fish eats something they eat it so.....

Sensitivity training is easy........Just compare every rod to an NRX and see how well they do . LOL

They're damn nice rods, but I can't justify the cost for these when I can get a very comparable rod around $250.

Debatable, NRX+ is more sensitive and lighter. For bottom contact I prefer the NRX. For moving baits the Conquest MBR’s have a more parabolic action than the NRX.

Gotta Conquest, took it back and got another NRX+. It was a nice rod but just preferred the NRX.

The Shimano Expride and poison adrena are nice rods but ain't no NRX.

Any custom rod built on a Rainshadow blank. I have had several made and would put them against the NRX+ any day. Rainshadow blanks, to me, are by far the most sensitive / light / etc. that I've had my hands on.

If you're speaking off the shelf, then it would be the Daiwa Tatula Elite AGS. These rods have the Airsensor reeel seat and AGS guides which transmit vibration so well you can feel when you bait hits bottom in some cases.

These posts are fun, you can go back and forth for days. It usually comes down to one thing: The person.

I am not sure what blanks they use but the sensitivity of their rods is awesome. Judy is a pleasure to deal with. reneautackle they use to be called Powertackle but have since changed their name.

The used to be Power tackle and recently changed to Reneau Tackle to release the lure side of the business. They make great rods and can pretty much make whatever you want. Pretty sure they are locked into using their blanks though.

My guy retired a few years ago. So I now have started buying up the equipment to make my own. I sure hope to be half as good as Brian Althouse Feathercast Rods.

Let me reach out to a few guys and see who's currently selling them finished. I bet just about any custom rod builder could build one for you.

After breaking every shimano/g-loomis rod I've bought it will take alot for me to spend more then 200 for a rod. Especially since my old carbon light is still rocking

Buy this and 50k in FFS and you too can catch fish like Kyoya.

You can get a replacement rod for less than $200 through the expedite process. I to have broke my share of IMX rods but never an NRX.

What are you doing to break so many rods?

Sounds like you need a bunch of Uglystick rods to fish with.

Re: Ibock - 04/04/24 01:48 AM

I’ve never damaged a loomis or shimano rod that wasn’t my fault.

I’ve only had about 50 shimano reels over time but non failed, some wore out, probably from lack of maintenance on my part.

Good products in my opinion.

Wish they kept anti reverse switches on their higher end spin reels…

No kidding. I have broken exactly two Loomis rods in the last 35 yrs and BOTH of them were my fault. I broke one going into the office at work as the hydraulic door closer get the tip as I walked in. The other I broke trying to free a bait stuck on a barb wire fence.

I am pretty tough on rods. I have only broken 3 of them. One is a car door, one in the trolling motor, one I was pond fishing and went to set the hook at slammed into a tree. I have never had one just break.

I’ve broken a few in forty years of fishing. One was dead sticking a frog fish with around 5 added pounds of grass on it. Broke at the stripper guide. Broke another in trying to save a senko on a dock piling. Top 10 inches. Brought a replacement for that rod and it broke pulling line through the guides the first 30 seconds after I mounted the reel. It was defective. That’s it. Three!

Now I have smashed numerous guides by stepping on rods while fishing.
