Grumpy old men don't make good choices when they have a gun.

like father-like son story...
have heard several different people tell this story over the years and one of them said he heard it from Roland himself so pretty sure there is some truth in it...
back in early days of BASS tournys, there was a tourny on Eufaula (Al.) and Roland martin (Scott Martin's father) was leading after first two days with a spot he had found a spot loaded with fish on river ledge.....last morning Roland comes flying up to his spot and there was an old man anchored there catching fish on almost every cast....Roland tried to talk the old man into leaving and old man told Roland "'this was his spot and go find himself someplace else to fish"....Roland tried to crowd the old man off the spot and the old man pulled out a pistol and told Roland "he was gooing to count to ten and if roland didn't leave,he was going to put 5 bullet holes in his boat and save one for Roland"....Old man started counting and when he got to 8,Roland cranked up and left....

I definitely wouldn’t fish in a canal like that…I hope that pistol goes off in his pants, maybe he’ll learn not to do that.

Roland admitted later in life he was wrong- Roland was actually picking up an anchor to swing it at the guy and that’s when he said he came face to face with a 1911…😆
