Fayette Sat

Fayette Sat - 02/27/24 07:52 PM

We went nice and early to Fayette and i immediatly started catching fish destroying a shad spawn. They were pretty shy of all the stuff my buddy was throwing so I tossed a 1 once spinnerbait deep in the grass and started catching until one broke me off and took my only 1 ounce I had. They wouldn't touch the lighter ones and boy did I try. Anyway after that we hit the dam and the bass hadn't moved up on the rocks yet so we zoomed over to the pond damn and started catching fish UP TO 6 pounds almost every other cast. I saw one kid catch a little bass but didn't see any other fish caught around us. Of course there were alot of boats trying to scope but it just want the day for it. Caught them all on finess Stix with light line in 64 degree water. Bluegill colors. Heres a short of the largest of the day

Sounds like the lake has really turned around lately. Had a few buddies out there Saturday as well and they all caught 30+, with a few good sized as too.

Spent the weekend at Fayette...largest 5.1 on a fluke at cool water intake. Fished the dam for the rest of our fish....sunny and windy! Texas rig worms worked best! Lots of cast netters at Oak thicket park....found ZERO grass any where on the lake. It is a shame how this lake has changed.

Thanks for the update - really need to check this lake out now that I've got comfortable on lake Bastrop - this is the 2nd closest lake to my house = drive to somerville is just a bit much.

Don't care for all the "cast netters" either, but I think the Tilapia are the issue with the lack of grass.

They lower the lake to kill it. It should be at normal pool now.
