I did the Brazos canoe trip from PK dam to Hwy 4 Saturday and Sunday. Two of us limited out both days on sandies. Three hybrids and 6 large mouth bass were also caught. The LMBs were released for another day. Countless other sandies were released. Fishing the first ten or so miles Saturday was much better than the last half on Sunday. Saturday they were generating power so the water level was good. All fish were caught on those feather crappie jigs; color didn’t matter chartreuse, all yellow and white tail black body and red heads all produced the same. One on the best trips I've had in a long time.

I didnt see a snake one, not on the water or the campsite. Almost all fish were caught around slack pools in areas of fast moving water. The water had to be at least waist deep to produce. We would get to fast moving water get out of the canoe and wade fish all the way down until the water slowed down, stopping at honey holes to wear them out. One spot in particular produced fish on every cast for over 20 minutes! The hybrids were caught in the fast moving water not slack pools. Leave the wife at home and take a buddy, someone that is not in a hurry to get to the camp site. smile We stayed too late at the last hole and had to paddle and hour and 20 minutes in the pitch black to catch our group at camp, shooting 2 sets of rapids in the dark, not the smartest thing I ever did.

i dont know for sure, but i dont think there will be islands
if you camp on shore, stay away from obvious roads, dont yell or shoot, keep campfire low, and i bet you can avoid landowners.

Sorry, no report as we weren't able to go and ended up going to San Antonio. Didn't have anyone to watch a couple of the dogs and it put a serious damper on it. We are still planning on going here in the first part of September though. Maybe it will cool down a little before then.
