Finger Printing For Work?

My employer is going to start requiring all of us get finger printed for work to meet CJIS compliance as we're going to support a local city government's police department.

Am I a weirdo because I want to refuse? I don't trust our government at all and don't want them having my prints. I've never been arrested nor have I had them taken.

EDIT: This was never a requirement previously.

I deal with this everyday and believe me it’s not optional. If you don’t want to do it then they just won’t be able to use you on that job.

concealed carry/fingerprints

nfa weapon, suppressor/prints

military/prints

somewhere they already have them on file, even if is just from the day you were born they have them.

we have no privacy any more.

Heck we use fingerprint recognition at work to log into some of our workstations. I like it.

DPS already has them.

I had to start submitting my fingerprints for my professional licenses years ago. They are then submitted yearly to the FBI for background checks because my job does it and then the state does it every time I renew my 3 licenses; not a big deal. I know the DPS has had my thumbprint for at least 10 years.

Part of the reason I won't go get NFA items (suppressors, SBRs) or my conceal carry is I don't want the gubmit having my prints.

they were taken the day you were born, hand/feet prints and they never change.

if it is a work situation for a clearance, i.d. verification, log in/out stuff etc. it shouldn't be a big deal.

fingerprints aren't gonna tell anyone anything without access to a database they are in, be a lot more worried about your ss #, dl #, bank accts, cards and such, those can cause huge problems if they get compromised.

our time clocks have finger scanners.

They were certainly not taken when I was born. My mother confirmed that, she's worse than I am about not trusting the government.

The government probably already has your prints. I wouldn't worry about it.

A lot of contracts require employees to have a fingerprint background check. We require it for any employee to have access to credit card transactions. You can refuse but if they don't have anything outside of those contracts they'll just let you go. I manage a lot of people and, frankly, someone refusing to be finger printed would be a HUGE red flag for me.

Everybody in my industry has to do it. I don't see it as a big deal. Comes with the turf in some professions.

At this stage in your life this is what you're worried about, SMH.

I had mine taken several years ago for CHL, never thought twice about it

several agencies have mine.

In this day and age the socialist know about everything about you if you are on line or have a cell phone. They everything they need to make your life miserable with the help of the IRS if they want to

We are way past being able to keep the government out of our business

I have a DoD clearance, so they were taken when I started here almost 20 years ago. But they also had them from my CHL, my suppressor, my driver's license I think....who knows.

What do you think the govt is gonna do with your prints? Rest of us who have given our prints have taken some huge risk?

it is how the machines will clone us to be their workers.

oh, if you have ever filled out a 4473 for a gun purchase then they know a lot more about you than fingerprints would give up.

fingerprints does nothing for the government until you break the law. Your IRS taxes and online activity,and your cell phone GPS, and the GPS in your new vehicle tell them much more about you then your fingerprints ever will IMHO

background check is pretty standard..we got fingerprinted for teaching school

If they want to get you, they'll get your DNA. That tells "them" a lot more about you than your prints.

If you have a smart phone the the FBI already has your prints along with your face for facial recognition.

If I remember correctly you gave them your thumb or index finger prints when you renewed your drivers license.

Some of us were already forced if you’ve ever spent the night in certain places . I have to anyways for certain high security sites , government facilities, vaults, server/data companies. Your already kind of screwed but I understand your frustration.

We do it all the time for CJIS. Oddly enough that record isn't used with other state systems that require fingerprint records.

Not a big deal, normal practice for many jobs.

I got fingerprinted in 1983 for an ROTC security Clearance.
Again in 1984 when I worked at a Brokerage firm.
Again around 1995 for a Mortgage/Securities firm.
Again around 2007 for my CHL/LTC

don't look at the prints from 1980

put super glue on your fingertips

Do you have a logical reason you don't want to do it

They already have access to your dna whenever its needed
