South Dallas area - 03/27/24 11:09 PM

Hello,

I have a young daughter I want to take brim fishing for some good frying size perch. Any recommendations in the South Dallas area that are assessable by land?

Hopefully someone will reply with some first hand information. You might also use Google to search for fishing spots in your area! Good luck and hope you find some nice sunfish. Sunfish can be found in just about every freshwater water body. thumb

There's a guy I've seen on here somewhere that has posted a map of a lot of ponds in the DFW area including south dallas. I think it was a google map that had pins dropped. Maybe someone will remember who that is and he can hook you up of one of his maps. Maybe was in the bank fishing section.

Right now, or in about 28 days from now and a week or so both ways the big mommas and daddies will be up on their beds and if you can find the right pond could get some really nice size ones.

Live crickets are hard to beat. Long shank size 6 cricket hooks bent at around a 60 degree angle about half way down work good to keep them from swallowing it. Use a little small split shot with a small light styrofoam orange and white float and let the wind drift it can work or fish them on the bottom or a slow retieve with no float can all work well depending on conditions.

Good luck and post some pics of your daughter catching some of those monsters. They are happy with any size and if you filet them right even the little ones can sure be tasty and no bones food

welcome The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department identifies community lakes that are available for fishing. The link is below. If you look up the lake on the TPWD record page you can often determine the size of fish in the lake. I have not fished the south Dallas area, so I can’t give you information on a specific lake. Good luck and let us know how you do.
