Slabs 4 1st Timer (FCL 4/23/24)

Wife wouldn't let me go fishing by myself yet due to shoulder concerns, so I arranged a trip with my grandson & his girlfriend.( And My Adopted Granddaughter Celine) ...It was her 1st time ever on a boat & fishing. Lennon will be heading off to basic training in the Air Force soon, so it was a great chance to spend the day with him as well b4 he ships out. Teaching her how to cast & bait a hook was fun...and she was a fast learner. We searched 6 areas & found active Gils in 2 of the 6. We ended the day with somewhere between 80 & 100 with some real big ones. (4-6 went a pound & just over). Water temp was around 78 degrees in the areas we fished & the wind was around 10 mph. It was a little chilly at 1st, but warmed up pretty fast. Saw Tomrom there as well & watched them catch a bunch also. All fish released to fight another day. Shoulder pretty sore today, but worth it !

And it's good to see some big numbers and size being caught. I'll have to look for a calm day and give it a try. I may even try wade fishing in one of the areas you told me about. Thanks a lot for the report Sir.

I am glad to see you back on the boat. Definitely positive progress. Sorry you only caught 80 to 100 fish. I am sure it will get better as your shoulder improves.

Thanks guys...Jamie...The spot/area I told you about typically is a late season spot, but give it a try. I think the cast netters ruin that spot this time of year.
JC...I have an even better time with them. Some day I will get around to editing all the video footage from the Go Pro. Hearing her shriek when she 1st touched the fish is priceless.

We actually went to Decker to chase crappie this week. Weather permitting, I’ll be back out there chasing the little guys next week..
