Lowrance Ti9 fish marking

Lowrance Ti9 fish marking - 04/21/24 03:43 AM

My graph works fine to mark fish at idle speed. After finding fish, I anchor using spot lock. While anchored, I lose all fish markings under the boat, I know I am on top of fish, but no marks. Do I have something set incorrectly?

Thanks

What transducer? How deep of water?

Total Scan 3d. In 30-40 foot of water

Total Scan and 3D are 2 different transducers. Do you have a pic you could post. I suspect that on spot lock your TM is causeing noise that covers up your image. what TM do you have? I am assuming your are talking about 2 D Sonar and not downscan or side image? If it is Sonar than your transducer would be a Total Scan.

My apologies Larry. It is the 2d total scan. I run a Sonar/downscan split screen. I have a Motorguide Xi5 trolling motor but it is not connected to the Lowrance network if that matters.

Just so I am clear about what you have and using, You have a Total Scan mounted to your Xi5 when in spot lock you lose your Fish Marks, if that is correct than you are either getting electrical noise that cancels out the image on the screen, or getting water turbulence from the mounted Total Scan drowning out your image. Time to figure out which this is. Electrical or Turbulence. What does the sonar do when moving down the bank on your TM?

FYI - I have Elite Ti 9" at console connected to Total Scan TD mounted on Transom. Also, Elite Ti 7" at bow connected to Terrova TM TD. Both Ti Units work fine with no "interference".
Only issue is Elite Ti 9" connected to Total Scan TD on Transom will not read "Sonar/Depth" when running & planed off. Boat is 2010 Nitro Z-7. I mounted Total Scan TD on transom at location recommended by Bass Pro & physical looking at a few Nitros in Bass Pro Katy store. No clue how to get Elite Ti 9" to read "Sonar/Depth" when plane off. I "welcome" any suggestions"!!

When you state "no marks" are you referring to individual fish marking? My Elite 9 will not show Vs or individual fish while sitting still. Instead it will show solid lines.

I do not see the V's. I will see some solid lines but just assumed it was my weight or my bait. I am going to go back through my setting next time out so that i can come back on here with more accurate data

thanks to all who provided feedback

Set your screen speed to normal instead of fast.

I am no expert ,but let me throw this out there. When the boat is moving , the v shape or arches of fish are displayed that way because the
" cone " of sonar has passed over them . Once you see them , they are behind you. When anchored , an stationary object on bottom or
suspended will show as a solid line. the sonar paints it over and over until it fills the display.
A fish that is moving will show up as a v shape or arch as it enters and leaves the cone. In most cases , the cone covers about
a 7 ft circle in twenty foot of water. Deeper = more shallow=less.

If you are stationary , a fish in twenty foot of water could be 4 ft away from your transducer and you would not see it.

This why traditional sonar is so limited. you really are not looking at very much water. Thus sidescan is such a big deal when
looking for fish and structure, And now livescope is such a big deal while anchored.

hope this helps someone
