Was thinking about it when looking at used boats. May already be happening.

The days of idling around for 8 hrs side imaging the lake seem to be behind us. Maybe now 2 year old boats won't already have 475 hours on them. Especially around here, there aren't any long runs like in other places.

What do you guys think?

Probably about the same... Run to a spot, drop the trolling motor, scan for a few minutes... No fish, crank up and head to the next spot... RInse and repeat... Maybe they won't have 300 hrs of idle time, so less chance for carbon build up... Dan

I don't think it replaced scanning that much. still easier and cover more to use side scan. wondering around in dead water on your TM using FFS is not worth it.

i think the near future you will see alot of high annual hour engines. Not a big deal in my opinion. Engines that sit have time for rust and corrosion to shorten life.

Likely not,the new thing is to have the FFS transducer mounted on a short pole next to the driver seat for scanning while idling

That….and when you drop the troller, it’s readily apparent if there are fish or not. Might lead to even more hours vs wasted time n the troller.

The new brushless trolling motors really scoot too, that might reduce big motor hours
