Headed to Denver at the end of July for a few days and need some water to try. I have fished all over Colorado, but never around Denver. I know it's not too far over to the Blue at Dillon, but looking for other options closer if possible. Fire away!!

Search up anything about the South Platte river that runs through Denver and you'll see it's a Carp mecca. That's what I'd go for if I were there.

go a little further upstream on the platte than denver propper and there are a ton of options. Deckers, cheeseman canyon, google is your friend. And like you said, its not a bad drive to the blue if you want some bigger hills. For some alpine lake action with a nice hike check out diamond lake outside of boulder. Its probably further than you want to drive but I love some of the small stream stuff in RMNP.

Nothing is that far from Denver --- compared to Texas distances.

Is the water better below or above Srontia Spring lake on the Platte?

Colorado PWD has a great fishing Atlas online. It's complex but useful. The S Platte near the stadium is good. For a little drive Clear creek by Golden is good and South Boulder creek below the dam.
