We are fishing @ Fork and I know its probably going to be tough. If it gets slow how do I keep them entertained?

I know this sounds harsh..................... if you have to keep them entertained - they are pursuing the wrong sport.
There are always slow times while fishing, just part of the game.

We'll be there as well, good luck.

We just fished our first tournament on Lewisville this past weekend. Not first of the season, but first overall. It was hot, windy, and crowded. Caught a keeper early. Mood got a little rough around 12 so I sat the boys down and ate some lunch and to regroup. They caught our keeper fish 2,3, & 4 between noon and 230 which landed them in 7th place out of 250ish.. couldn’t be more proud of them and super thankful for those power sandwiches grin

Good job El Capitan! 7th got them into the awards and freebies after. I bet they were excited for that.

Yea sir, they were pumped and already focused on the next one. They got a couple hundred dollar gift cards that I’m sure are spent by now. They were only 0.23 lbs out of 5th which got a big check, so that stings a little.
But back to the OP, keep that blood sugar up. Lots of snacks and drinks. A little ribbing here and there helps lighten the mood when things are slow. Hopefully it’s a little cooler for y’all this weekend too.

That's the deal for sure, neither one of them has ever done this and probably most or all of their bass fishing experience has been on farm ponds. I've already explained to them there is a huge difference between pond fishing and lake fishing and on top of that we are headed for Fork which makes it a lot tougher. We have Sandlin and Tawakoni on our schedule and I'd much rather take them to those lakes the first time out, I know I can get them on fish at either one of those lakes.

Excellent idea, I'm going to do that. Some had also told me about every two hours to let them have their phones for a few minutes if it gets slow,

THSBA changed the rule this year, anglers can’t be on their phones during the tournament.

That's not new...was that way last 2 years. Many of the anglers just couldn't deal with that.

They can if you make them leave the phone in the truck.
MY rules are clear before the kids ever get on the water. No phones is one of them.

I made my anglers put them into the glovebox. We didn't get them out until the run back to the ramp for weigh-in.

We discussed this after looking at the rules. We put them in the glove box of the passenger side console. I put mine in there too just to make it fair. I'd check the time on mine as the day progressed. We had a good day, both learned a lot and I even learned some things. We had enough fish chase up to the boat to probably place real well or win the thing and caught one 19 inch slot fish and had a nice under reeled all the way to the boat and it got off. but we didn't weigh anything. It seemed like almost everything my guys threw we'd have a fish follow to the boat but wouldn't commit.

I I usually keep mine in my pocket.
There have been a couple of events where the tournament officials or the team advisor have sent weather/tournament information to us during the event. I'm old and won't hear it in the glove box.......
I also will snap pics of the kids fishing that I share after the event with the parents or kids.

Good idea, I did get some pictures of that slot fish with the kid that caught it and sent them to his mom. I have my phone's sound turned on so I here it in the glove box. I was afraid I'd drop it in the water trying to retrieve lures.
