Have a trip planned to take Dad up to Caddo Feb 29-March 3. It’s a place I’ve never been, but always wanted to go. Currently lining out our accommodations and had the thought of hitting another lake while in the area. So to the guys that have been, would you A) stay at Caddo the entire trip, B) run over and fish Lake O The Pines 1 out of the 4 days, or C) leave Caddo a day early and hit Naconiche on the way home for a day? Do’s and dont’s while at Caddo are welcome.

I would have to hit Naconiche on way home.

I’d hit LOP for a day or two.

I fish Caddo all the time. Pretty much only lake I fish now days. Lake of the Pines is an awesome lake but I would go to Naconiche instead of it. Pines is a good size lake and can be a challenge at times.

Naconiche is worth the stop for sure. Great little lake that has somewhat been kept quiet.

your always one catch away from catching a double digit at Naconiche My father in law caught a 10.2lber a couple years ago out of there. It's a place you can just put your trolling motor down and fish... Pines can be quite the challenge this time of year, but when you find them you will likely catch 20lbs off that one spot.

Thanks guys. I ended up putting us down for the first 2 1/2 days at Caddo, and the last 1 1/2 day at Naconiche. Looking forward to some new scenery away from Rayburn.

Does your navigation chip have Caddo on it? It is pretty easy to get lost or at least turned around on that lake.

Get a map at the local store. It is worth it.

That looks awesome, I love backwaters like that. Zaldain did a video there a few month back it looked like a great time...

If you want to hit LOP too I'd suggest staying in Jefferson. There are hotels and should be some bed and breakfast places as well. I've stayed in Jefferson to fish a tournament on LOP and the accommodations were so so. I stayed at one of the hotels on 59; I think it was the Oyo or something like that, It's one of those deals where you probably won't have any issues but I'd bring everything out of the boat in the room at night or lock it all. If the electronics isn't built in/flush mount I'd take that off too.

Appreciate all the insight guys, plan to do a little running around on Caddo but Naconiche will be a drop the trolling motor and fish type of deal for us. Now just keeping our fingers crossed the weather is decent.
