I have about 6 months of face time on my active target. If I can't start catching em better by the end of this season...
I'm gonna consider it a failed season.
I wanna do what they are doing.
Free loader, jerk bait, swim jig
I am all in as long as its not drop shot

Plenty of OG Bassmasters are going back to the drawing board to enhance their front looker game.

Don't set your expectations too high for a short period of time. You really have to dial in your unit so you can see your bait, and the fish. Baby steps if you're not a technical person with the electronics. I personally don't use a transducer on the TM, I like it on a separate pole. Gotta get out and play with your setup , if you can't see your bait your are spinning your Wheels.

I’m a middle-aged guy with 35+ years of pretty hard fishing under my belt. I’m a pretty decent stick with above average skills. Here’s what I find most interesting about the “front-looker”. People who are great with it have basically erased a lot of what us old school guys have spent years learning. I think that’s what leads to the a lot of the whining….

If you trim your brush piles your front looker will have a better view. bolt

Looks like you've been looking at a lot of Dustin Connell videos just like me. He sure makes it look easy.

These guys that make it look easy, have spent 1000's of hours dialing it in to figure it out.
They change their settings for each lake to make the images the best. They know what they are doing and we all don't (or at least I don't pretend to).
But that's their job, that's what they get paid to do. If I could spend 40-50+ hours a week in my boat dialing in the graphs, I bet I'd be better at it too.
Plus it's also about perfecting their cast to get the bait in just the right spot to trigger a bite.

They haven’t erased it, they learned you’ve been chasing the wrong fish. If you’ve always thought 2 plus 2 equal 3, and they learned it’s actually 4…

You will need to dial your settings in by the minute a lot of times, change in sunlight penetration, amount of surface disturbance, depth, water clarity, pollen in and on the water is a challenge, pollen can be a factor in the water water column as well as pollen on the surface will change the amount of light penetration as well as light refraction which will make adjustments necessary

If you are going to utilize the technology to its fullest, it's more than plug and play. The good news is it once you learn what the settings do and develop some confidence it's rather simple to operate.

Bait delivery that is the real challenge, it changes constantly due to conditions.

I learned to use SI/DI doing body recoveries as well as using it fishing. I was introduced to the technology very early on and it was a little intimidating. If FFS would have been around before I retired it could have been very useful to find bodies.

I think a lot of people that could benefit from it do not try it because of the fear of failure after throwing down a few thousand dollars. If you can afford it, like to catch fish and like to be fascinated by a different perspective you are doing yourself a disservice to not try FFS, IMO. It's not that hard to learn the basics and the rest is about time behind the screen using it.
