Fished from 8:30 til 2:30 today. Lake was very crowded due to spring break. Water temp as 69-71 degrees in most areas. Tried 5 different sunfish spots but they are just not ready yet. Caught one overachiever that beat all the others out, but it was real small. The bass bite was a little slow as well, but ended up with 15 & a few decent ones. After last weeks fiasco, had no boat issues since getting new batteries. On a side note I got the shoulder diagnosis call today & have a torn rotator cuff that will need surgery in April. The doctor said not to lift weights, but I heard nothing about no fishing...so I have a few weeks left & may actually see the start of sunfish season on FCL... clap

Chuck...I believe the future of sunfish on Dunlap is good since they are so prolific, but it may take a few years. They probably had the best survival rate after the dam break, but just guessing...what do you think ?

It's about time we see a Fayette bluegill! Those green ditch pickles are getting old! roflmao

Just kidding Steve 😂 I enjoy seeing all those bass you catch that the "real" bass fishermen can never catch 😉
You will be in our prayers for your surgery so you can get back to posting those Fayette gills hooked

I was thinking 1 or 2 years and yes I fill Dunlap will make a very good recovery. I have a feeling that the boat traffic on Dunlap is going to be much worst than what it was several years ago. The wake boats and jet fleas were a huge problem to fish with! bang

Nice fish. On the shoulder surgery front, they are very good with that surgery now. Make sure to do all your rehab, especially stretching, and you should end up as good as new. I had to keep my fish under 10 pounds, but I was back fishing after a few weeks. Feel free to PM me with questions about the surgery.

That overachiever perch is destined for greatness. May all who catch him release him !

Looks like we will be getting surgery about the same time.

I really like that 2nd pic. Beast of a bass and gorgeous. How do you like that Revo spinning reel ?

You should've interrogated that bluegill and asked where the other bluegill are. Nice bass!

Thanks Leo...I appreciate you..

Doc...I love the Revo spinning reel & like the Favorite Absolute rod ok...It is a med/heavy fast action tip & I really prefer a med/med for finesse bass. Our St Croixs are still the "BEST" by far but was looking for a cheaper quality alternate.

Barry...OMG...You were out fishing with a sling after rotator cuff surgery !!! I am so freekin inspired I won't be able to get any sleep tonight. taz ps...Loved the dress shoes as well...looks like you went fishing right after church ! roflmao

I agree 100%. I’m so glad you moved me towards St. Croix. My 3 St. Croix Premier rods are the backbone of my bass armament. For the money spent to rod quality ratio and their fool proof warranty they own it in my estimation.

Fishing after shoulder surgery was easy. It was a little more difficult after neck surgery…but life goes on. roflmao My surgeon hung this picture on his wall to show patients there was still life after surgery.
