They should have kept Mason Rudolph. I think Mason wanted a fresh start. Very well could be.

A 4th-6th round pick for the guy is a steal. They did good on that trade. Even if he ends up a backup that's a good trade. The Bears will reportedly receive a 2025 sixth-round pick that would become a fourth-rounder if Fields plays in 51% of snaps next season, but that does not seem to be in Pittsburgh's plans. So unless Wilson gets hurt or completely tanks they got him for a 6th next year... https://www.foxnews.com/sports/steelers-acquire-justin-fields-just-days-after-signing-russell-wilsonThey should have kept Mason Rudolph. There were reports that quite a few coaches and front office people thought Rudolph should have been the starter last year but got overruled because Pickett was a 1st round pick so they started him to save face... Chicago writer reporting that Poles received a better offer for Fields from another team but believed the opportunity was better in Pittsburgh for Fields so sent him there - wanted to "do right" for him. The trade value for QBs was really determined by the number of years left on their rookie deals. The Steelers get Fields for one year on the cheap and then he becomes an unrestricted free agent just like Mac Jones who also netted a sixth round pick.

Fields would do well behind a good offensive line!

I wouldn't have minded the Boys getting Fields for a 6th.

The Steelers can pick up his fifth year option if they want to keep him another year. I think it would be in the 25 million range so yeah its a one year deal.

Man I'd play Fields from the get. I think Wilson's time is done. Be interesting to see how it all shakes out for the Steelers.

Dan I've heard that. The receivers wanted him.

Steal of a deal for Pittsburgh. I heard they had better offers but Fields wanted to go to Pitts and Chicago did the noble thing.
I wanted cowboys to trade for him. I think he would have been an automatic upgrade to Lance and could push Dak a little at least. Fields hasn’t exactly got a fair look in a place like Chicago.
