What are you guys using for set ups for shark fishing? My buddy moved to Florida and is getting some sharks but has already broken two rods. He is fishing out of a boat.

I wouldn't use anything less than an 80 lb. rig, 100 would be better.

“Shark Fishing” encompasses a wide variety of fisihng. A 4-feet blacktip is way different than a 13-feet hammerhead. I have caught lots of blacktip, bulls, spinners, sandbar and other sharks on my 7000i ambassador reels with a GS series 40-pound class rod (red reel in picture), but it is a long fight and not ideal. When I am targeting big sharks I use an Avet 30 2-speed reel on a 80-100 class rod (blue reel in picture). I have also caught sharks on the fly reels pictured. Florida has a wide variety of sharks, with bulls, hammerheads, and nurse sharks being common. Sharks are fun to catch, but always respect them. They can hurt you. I even fish for them without a reel for some extra fun.
