Can you run the lake?

Is it a good bed fishing lake?

Run yes. Maybe random floater. Basically clear east of powerlines.
Tom Mayne has Guideline Combo covering Gilmer/Hawkins/Welsh.

You can run parts of the lake, NOT all of it.

Gilmer water level was dropped 6ft or so several years back. Pretty good time to mark trails one could run.
My info is Guidelanes used this. Still no need to run full speed cause Gilmer is a small lake. Ditto on Hawkins & Welsh.
Maybe I can come up with a screenshot.

I used to have a trail marked on my gps, but there’s no marked boat lanes. North of the bridge has some areas that are relatively safe. South of the bridge has LOTS of stumps. I got hung high centered in my bass boat years ago. Now I fish out of a kayak. That lake has some big bass in it. Any spot in Gilmer Lake could hold a big fish.

Be careful on that lake. As someone mentioned, there are places where entire logs lay just beneath the surface.
