I am replacing my etec with a new proXS and will need a new prop. What size and pitch would I need for a ranger Z118? I have a raker II on the evinrude but don't think it will work on the Mercury.

Man I just put a Pro XS 150 on my Triton in Sept. I love the 21 Tempest I put on. It gets on pad in a nanosecond and you don't have to run 55-58 to get the RPM's in that WOT range. I can do 50-52 and run at 5800 depending on my trim. I had a 23 on my XR6 and it was great but I like the 21 much better.
Good luck and by the way, you will love that motor.

The 23 is probably too stiff for that boat and motor. The 21 is probably a little light. I’d try a 22p Tempest Plus with medium PVS holes.
It should make for a 59-60 mph boat @ 6000 rpm. Good lift and good handling

Steez may have it about right. Look I don’t want to run 59-60 so the 21 comes on pad fast and I can go low 50’s and get the rpm’s where the motor needs them. If you’re a tourney guy and want to blaze I think the 22 will be better than the 23. I’m 59 and fun fish I don’t want to go 60.
It all depends on what you want and your needs.

The 4 stroke mercs seems to take 1 less than their 2 stroke equivalent. A 150 isn't gonna turn a 23 nearly in the rpm range it should with a 150. I'm not sure the 22 is right. Probably a 21 put you are gonna have to try a couple and find out.

I agree with others on a 21 or 22 tempest being a good place to look. I repowered my 19ft BassCat from 200HP Optimax ProXS with 24p Fury to the 200HP four-stroke ProXS with 23p Fury. The 23 is almost too much for mine, but it gets just to the low end of recommended wide-open RPMS. See if you can borrow a used one for testing before buying a new.

Tempest+ 21 or 22 P Most of the Merc guys I spoke w/ suggest this prop on the newer Mercs. I have the 150 Merc 4S on a Z518 and run the Tempest+ 22P. It's not a speed demon prop, but the hole shot is awesome.
