Robert and I went to Decker today to load up on crappie slabs and maybe get a few bites from the little guys. Got to the lake before 8am and the parking lot was 3/4 full of boats trailers. We took his custom pontoon with my portable livescope rigged up on the front end. As we were heading out, I was a little concerned if any of the brush piles I knew about were occupied by another angler. Sure enough, the spot where I caught 42 last week had two boats floating on top of it. Not to be discouraged, we started side scanning and found a large pile in 25 feet of water that was loaded with crappie. We caught 30 fish and kept 19 for table food. When the bite started slowing, we anchored up and went looking for bluegill spots. Checked several locations and only one looked like it may be getting close. Since there is so may weeds on this lake, Robert was throwing a small spinner and I was using a 1.25 swim bait. We only caught 3 but they were nice size fish. Ended the day at 12:30 with 30 crappie, 3 sunfish and 3 bass.

The Bluegill have moved shallow on Walter Long!! banana

I fished Walter Long this morning. I caught over 40 bluegill, 6 redear, 5 hybrid sunfish, 2 redbreast, 11 LMB and 2 crappie. It seemed to be mostly males as I didn't catch anything over 9 inches and the bluegill were donning their bright orange spawning colors.
