Hello Everyone! I fish in Vermont and New Hampshire and I just started using the Texas Rig to target Pike, Pickerel, and Large Mouth. I love this thing. I starting making my own after seeing this video. My question is, would the action work the same if the main line is braided? Also, how long is the best leader? In the video he said about a 1 foot. Thanks! I wish I discovered this rig years ago. YouTube Video Link

Looks good to me, but us Texans don’t use the clacker bead thing. We just put on a bullet weight, tie on a EWG hook, and let it slide.

Some take that bead out, peg the weight, and don’t use a leader…

Just tie you some fluorocarbon 15-20lb test on and like steez said no bead but that's optional I use a bead sometimes. Good luck!

If you’re going to use a bead use a glass one. The ole brass and glass Tx rig worked good.

If you’re going to use a glass bead use lead… For sure. Tungsten will break the glass and the broken glass will cut the line.

Never seen a bobber stop below the weight protects the knot and can slide it up and make it a sissy rig (chicken shtt rig)

Never seen a bobber stop below the weight protects the knot and can slide it up and make it a sissy rig (chicken shtt rig) I even started using a bobber stopper on all of my rigs including weightless rigs, topwaters, chatterbaits and spinnerbaits and crankbaits. Just a little bit of knot protection against hitting wood or rock.

Looks good; the color's got my attention. Braid should be fine but I never use a liter on my fresh water set-ups.
