I truly do. A friend is putting together a Spain trip. Pretty cool. But I’ve got a slice of heaven here in little Aransas Pass. Boat ramps to multiple bays close by. Gulf access. I can’t see the water, but it’s a mile that way. Pool going in. Boat for the bay and another for the near shore. Beach within a few miles. Free access to PINS. AC works. Spain? Im good. What about you? What’s your slice of heaven?

I had some epic redfish adventures in Shamrock Cove.

Sittin' on the shores of Norris Lake... Covered boat dock with a tri-toon on the lift... We're in the back of a no wake creek... Bass boat in the garage and a free ramp 1.7 miles down the road... Retirement is good... Great wife... Good dog... Dan

Just north of you in Seadrift. Live on a canal with sunsets over San Antonio Bay.
No real gulf access but 1/100th the crowds. Might possibly consider relocating to Arroyo City but we’re really good here. Outstanding fishing without the fleets of potlickers.

We were looking at this place back in 2021. Estimated that vacation rental on the downstairs unit would have conservatively brought in around $60k a year. Will probably end up moving back to the Keys in a few years. Where I live now is really nice, but I miss the ocean.

The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach

I am super happy with where I live although it's 45 minutes to Rayburn. 1hour 20 minutes to south Toledo Bend. I do have a couple of neighbors near my front gate but I'm covered with big timber and nobody can see us sitting here in the middle of 50 acres.

Heaven, no, not quite.. we love it .

My little slice of heaven lies about 120 miles SSE of you. 20 miles inland and 35 feet above sea level; no hurricane storm surge will ever bother me. 28.4 miles to the ramp on the Arroyo Colorado. 39.0 miles to the ramp at Port Mansfield. 39.6 miles to the ramp at the South Padre Island jetties (can you say, "tarpon"?). A boat that floats in 5" of water and runs in less than that. A rack over the boat holding a dozen fly rods from half weight to 12 weight. More rods in the corner. And a girlfriend who loves to fish and hunt.

Country living on 5 acres, chickens, 150 peach trees, 4 pear trees, 45 pecan trees, massive garden, Ray Roberts 70 minutes away for my summer time crappie, PK 65 minutes away for my bassin.
Boss is sending me and the wife to Maui next week for a 5 day work convention. Won't be a whole lot of working as we have excursions planned everyday, I'm spoiled rotten.

We are good here. Have been living on the SW corner of Cedar Creek Lake for 20+ years. I just off water and have a private boat ramp 200 yards from the house. I pay lower taxes than those on the water, very low population area, lots of greenery and no major city [censored]. We sometimes struggle to find a vacation spot that tops where we are now.

My 3/4...well, currently 1+ acre patch of dirt on what was once the shore of Lake Travis. LOL Parents bought the place in '75 and when Dad passed 5 years ago we bought out my siblings whom are all 10-12 years older than I am. I basically grew up out there and couldn't stand the thought of losing it so we sold our place in Cedar Park and moved.

This sunrise pic was taken yesterday. Our dock is 2nd from right. It has been grounded since July '22. The previous stretch of drought it was grounded almost 4 years to the day before the water came back. You couldn't even see the bluff on the opposite shore because of all the trees that grew. I now keep everything cut back. Ready for the water to come back. It's no fun mowing around a dock. LOL At full pool, there is 25' of water where the dock sits. Currently the lake is 51 feet below full pool level of 681. Soooo, a little 26' rise is all we need to get her floating again....and I've witnessed that happen in under 24 hours when big rains hit the right spot.
