Don't know if La Perla is for sale but they are currently advertising fishing for $2,000 per person for a 2 day stay. I did not look but I can only assume room and board are included. Please see link in earlier post.

La Perla contributed to the Sharelunker program with fish #559. There is zero issues with the LaPerla fish, TPWD spawned it, if they gave fingerlings from that fish back to LaPerla, that is what the sharelunker program does. I think “deeping” the lunker gene pool by using fish from private waters could be a good thing.
As for “Lake X” being a private lake for TPWD employees, do you know this as fact or rumor?
I believe that to be true. Gary Klein fished it once and there was an article in a BassMaster magazine on it. Tried looking it up but could not find it. In that article, he said that it was for employees, and friends and family to fish. He raved on what a great lake it was. He was personally invited to fish it and fished out of his boat on Lake X.

Since I was a 35 year employee I am pretty sure my info about where it is(Winfield South mine area) which is one of the lignite mines that fed Monticello. I am not sure if it was employees only but I know employees were able to fish it.

La Perla was originally stocked with Share a lunker fingerlings so #559 was just them giving the state back a fish that the state had given them. I don’t believe this to be true, and upon looking into it further, I don’t believe La Perla received a stocking from the sharelunker they donated either. TPWD does not stock private waters.

Please see link in earlier post. La Perla was up for sale last year. Not sure if they sold or it was just taken back off the market.

I am not sure if it was employees only but I know employees were able to fish it. Lots of DD bass have been caught out of those Winfield ponds. A 14lber may or may not have been caught there and taken to a area lake and submitted as a lake record. Alot of locals know the story about the guy.

I think this proves you know not of which you speak. TPWD does not stock private waters.

This whole time I've been thinking Lake X was just a test facility for Mercury Marine.

I think it’s great that TPWD partnered with LaPerla to try to grow a WR.
Thanks for sharing the articles! Great service provided by TPWD and seems like a great contractual agreement between TPWD and LaPerla!

Lake X was on Monticello land is what we company employees were told. This is lake X, located in Freestone Co, Tx.
