I would like to hear some of tips and tricks to wash the underside of a 4x4 after beach fishing.

Any particular gear or setups to make the job quicker or more effective?

Do you use just straight water or add soap or anything else?

Put a sprinkler under the vehicle and move it every five minutes or so to get full coverage, using water. Follow up with Salt Away. Make sure you get the hubs & brakes good..

Adding water will brine the frame.

The only way is having the undercarriage sprayed with a film to help prevent it. To where it prevents the salt from touching metal and it's easier to remove. *Before you go out there.

Having salt under your ride. All a plain water rinse is doing is washing it into crevices.

Cleaning the underside of your 4x4 after beach fishing is essential to prevent rust and maintain its longevity. Sand, saltwater, and debris can accumulate in hard-to-reach areas, so a thorough cleaning process is crucial. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to clean the underbody of your 4x4:

Rinse Off Excess Dirt:
Use a pressure washer to thoroughly rinse the underbody. Remove as much rough dirt, sand, and mud as possible. Pay attention to wheel wells, suspension components, and chassis rails.

Prepare a Cleaning Solution:
Fill a bucket with water and add a drop of mild detergent or bleach. This solution will help remove stubborn grime.
Alternatively, you can use snow foam to loosen particles on the undercarriage.

Scrub the Undercarriage:
Use a brush to carefully wash the undercarriage with the soapy water. Focus on areas where dirt tends to accumulate.
Pay extra attention to wheel arches, frame rails, and any exposed metal surfaces.

Let It Sit:
Leave the soapy solution on the underbody for about 20 minutes. This allows it to break down any remaining dirt and contaminants.

Rinse Thoroughly:
Use the pressure washer again to rinse off the soapy water. Make sure to remove all traces of detergent.
Pay attention to crevices and corners where sand and saltwater might hide.

Allow Drying Time:
Leave your 4x4 to dry completely. Depending on the weather conditions, this may take several hours or overnight.
Drying thoroughly helps prevent trapped moisture, which can lead to rust.

Apply a Protective Coating:
After cleaning, consider applying a coat of polish or lubricating oil to exposed metal surfaces. This helps prevent rust.
Lubricating oil also reduces friction in moving parts.

Remember that regular maintenance is essential to keep your 4x4 in top condition. If you’ve been driving through saltwater, consider additional rust-proofing measures.

I usaully pray for rain or run it through a car wash. I do wash my vechicles by hand and I always hit the bottom with water.

So I guess that backing it down into the lake on the boat ramp isn't a good move to wash off the salt?

Most people have no idea how fast saltwater will rust something out.
They learn quickly.

If you don't actually run your sled in the water, and keep it on the sand, that will help a lot. I'd soak everything down you can see with corrosion X HD before I went, that stuff keeps my trailer lugs and such from getting cancer.

What do you use for lubricating oil?

I don’t have a pressure washer but I plan on getting one. I will also get one of those undercarriage washers that are intended to be attached to a pressure washer. They have wheels and upward facing nozzles to get to areas hard to reach if you are just trying to spray with a handheld zozzle.

The uncomfortable truth.
Anything you do is way better than nothing.
But...nothing you do will be 100% Salt spray gets into some unbelievable places, and will find a place to cause as much trouble as possible.
