The Toyotas have divisions where the tournaments are closer together. The BASS Opens are spread out all over the country. Doubt many coanglers are willing to travel that far.

I’m pretty sure it’s just due to the (fair) sunglass giveaways that MLF does at each tournament. It’s the key to drawing a good crowd of guys that can’t afford their own boat.

The reason is that Toyota boaters (pros) are highly motivated to get a co-angler to sign up with them to avoid boater/boater pairing. BASS Open anglers do not have to worry about it because boaters will not be paired together.

BASS opens do not have a year end championship as far as i can tell...the top boaters qualify for the elite series......Toyota series has a year end championship which I assume is a no-entry fee event and this may provide some incentive for no-boaters to fish their tournaments..

Ok, now if the Toyota's didn't have a year end championship would they have the participation that the BASS Opens do???... The Opens are the AAA and the Toyota's are AA... Dan

we are talking about co-angler participation so toyota offers an end of year championship tourney for co-anglers and BASS don’t…AAA and AA really don’t apply to co-anglers since they can’t move up until they become boaters and compete on that level….

I guess it’s just part of the deal but it seems like [censored] to me that you have to give a free fishing trip to a co angler. They can complain all they want but it’s a sweet deal for them.

But if mentioned previously the pro's on the Toyota side are recruiting co's so they aren't paired with another pro that explains why there are more co's fishing... BASS doesn't have that requirement/ incentive so there's less co's... Not really hard to understand... Dan

Looks like the Toyota winner gets $33k and the Bassmaster open angler wins about $17k.

Much smaller fields at bass though, no?I’ll take 17k for beating 81 others over 34k for beating 192 at Toyotas.
