They are showing up big now in my area. I would have thought with all the rain that they would have been more of a problem by now.

Horrible here. Run out and get in the truck and half a dozen get in with you.

We've been over run with gnats and no-seeums. Skeeters have not been that bad yet. My bet is that they are on deck waiting their turn.

That reminds me, I need to put out new Spartan Mosquito tubes.

I keep the yard around the house sprayed with permethrin and it keeps the mosquitoes and other flying pest at bay.

I dunno, maybe because April was a very wet month and your neighbors keep containers uncovered in the yard?

Out in backyard yesterday picking blackberries in shorts and t-shirt. I won't do that again. I was itching all evening and still have some welts. Skeeters around here are real small. Sometimes you don't even realize you have been bit until the itch starts. Hope I don't have to open the cover on septic tank any time soon.

They showed up in force about a week ago around Lake Lewisville.

These ain't native mosquitoes. They're Tiger mosquitoes imported from China. You can recognize them by the larger size and the black and white tiger stripes.


Native mosquito usually comes out at night. Tends to leave livestock and animals alone.


But not Tiger mosquito. They feed 24/7 and will bite anything with blood. Day, night, dry, or wet. They'll lay eggs in moist dirt and could less if there's any standing water around. Like in flower pots.


They are a plague.
