Installed the HDS and hooked up the transducer cable to the black connection. I went to the lake to test it and transducer was not working. I did not think about going into settings. Never had a problem like this before. I switched the cable to the blue, ch1 connector, and it worked. When I got home I googled it and saw a You Tube video that showed going into settings and entering the transducer number from the tag. I moved the cable back to the black connector and went to settings. The transducer number was correct and set to channel 2. I have not been back to the lake to test it. Curious as to why the setting may have been for ch1 and then changed to ch2 when I changed connectors and fired it back up.

What transducer did you plug into the black port?
Do you understand why there are 2 different channels? Trying to understand your question a bit more.
Some transducers are XID, which automatically tells the graph what they are.

It is a 3n1. Not sure if XID. I know there are 2 channels. Not sure why. I also know channel 1 blue connector does not support side scan. When I was testing at the lake I never thought to check settings. All I did was switch black connector to blue on back of unit. When I did that the transducer worked fine. Question is when I was at the house and switched back to black the settings on unit were on channel 2. I am guessing they switched automatically. If so why no signal on the lake?

The 3-1 does got to channel 2 the black connector it has to be turn on along with mult channel, then go into installation make sure that transducer is selected in transducer type AI3-1 save it then go to your sonar page and make sure that is selected to this unit assuming its plugged into the console. if you don't have another transducer connected turn off ch 2. That should get you going make sure you have the latest software updates installed Version 23.3 especially if you have AT or AT2 that should get you going.

Thanks Larry. It might be the This Unit setting. I recall a similar issue with the FS9. I have updated the software.

Pic 1 is when I turned unit on and went into Settings Installation. Pic 2 is current setting. Transducer tag reads AI 2 3n1. Going to the lake tomorrow to test.

Ya no go on Channel 1 for 3-1 did you double check the data sources for the correct unit and transducer? Then you have to select the source on the Sonar page menu. 3 things that make this work correctly .

What I am saying has nothing to do with network, its the access to the data source is what I am referencing Page/Settings/Network/Data sources/ Sonar and Temp

Went in and checked AI 2 3-N-1 in Network/Data Sources/Sonar/Temp. I see AI 2 3-N-1 This Unit on top of sonar page and reading temperature. Hopefully it works now.

I got to the lake and A1 2 3-N-1 This Unit was not displayed at the top of the sonar. No depth reading. Tried everything even switched to the transducer for the Elite FS9. Switched to blue connector and fished. Looks like I will be returning it to Lowrance.

On the source menu on the sonar page what is that set to? That is where you set it to this unit or any other transducer on your system.

I know what you are referring to. Not seeing a source on Sonar menu on black connector. It shows when I hook it up to blue one. Something is not right with this unit and I don't think it is the settings. My patience has run out.
