Wendy and I hit the lake yesterday afternoon to mostly sunny skies and light winds. Started about 3:00pm. Hit a few of the usual places and found scattered fish unwilling to be enticed in to the boat.
Birds everywhere were more content to cool their tail feathers.

Ended up just drifting through small pockets of fish and mostly dead sticking Humdingers. About an hour before dark we finally found one small pocket of fish that was willing to bite.

Ended up with about 20 fish in that hour. Started sprinkling so we headed to the house.

Good to get the line stretched again in earnest.

Water temp 50-51 degrees. Fish came from 15-16' of water close to a drop off. All fish were hugging bottom and very difficult to detect on the graph. You must know what these fish are going to look like when they are in these tightly grouped spawning pods and not actively feeding. Had to put the Humdinger on the bottom and lift it about 8-12" and then slowly drop it back down. Most fish hammered the bait on the second drop. Had a few upper-bumpers. We missed some fish too.

The hot action is right around the corner. And poor me with a whole week of vacation next week. woot

Sounds like you've got their number now! We encountered the same on bridgeport, but when we did find the feeding fish we new exactly what the wanted, a 1 1/2 ounce slab right on the bottom.Alot of times we will cast it out as far as you can, let it hit bottom and drag it on the bottom, we always fish this way. Caught a dozen big hybrids and 40 magnum s.b. in about 2 1/2 hours. other boats came in and were casting I don't know what, but I never saw anyone else catch a fish. Our fish came out of 24' to 32' of water.

Nice report. Thanks, fun to read about a lake from the past.
