I went on the same trip 2 weeks ago. The first day was kinda slow as far as fishing goes, but the next day we ran into to them. All caught on pearl/white tubes and flukes. I've been on that trip more times than I can count.

Here is a pic of the biggest one, measured aroung 20 inches. caught plenty of others in that range. Lost o fun!!

Flint bend is great for sandies. Last year we caught around 50 and kept around 20 of them.

Going again this year. Just sent in the deposit to Rochelles for the weekend before Memorial Day.

Hey guys. Next weekend is my canoe trip! I'm trying to identify the level and discharge of water for the area below PK dam. I know that it will change by next weekend but does anyone know if this is the correct gauge (see link below)? If so the 'Gauge Height' is 66 ft. That's not saying that the gauge is in 66 ft of water is it? Also, the discharge is showing 100 cubic feet per second. What's a decent discharge for canoeing? Thanks for your help.

I have taken that trip several times over the last 40 years When the discharge is around 500CFS or above its very good Canoing,in my oponion any thing above 800 is generally to fast for fun and fishing. If the water flow is around 100 or less expect to drag the canoe some or alot some areas you can get out of the canoe and it will float over the shallow areas it depends on how heavely packed with equipment you are you can still enjoy the trip however. also the last stretch to Rochells is directly into the south and the river widens out some, so if there is a strong south wind it can be a chore to finish out. Main thing is have fun be safe and enjoy the country side around you.Report back to us on your trip.
Are you doing a over nighter??

Yes..it's an all weekend trip. We're putting in early Friday and taking out Sunday. We're planning on taking it slow. Thanks for the reply.

You might be a red neck, if you ask your girlfriend to get married on a canoe trip. but yeah that is way cool!!! my wife will go camping too, as long as it is close to a way back home. Hope allis well, and still enjoying the outdoors.

Whats funny is Im the farthest thing from a redneck. Thats why it surprised the !@$#@ out of her! It would have been a long, quite canoe trip back, if she said no.
