I got one off that had been left on there for too long with water in the hub and no grease. I used a hammer and a punch, did the trick.

I caught a wheel on fire once in a travel trailer and had to use a chisel. I also had to touch up the shaft with a file but the thing is still going.

Sounds like you need a puller. They aren't cheap so maybe you can find someone that will loan you one. Or maybe Walmart has them and you can buy it, use it, return it. Here is what they look like:

If you have a hand held propane torch you can sometimes heat the bearing and knock it off. If that doesn't work do like Just Old Fisherman suggessted only try a loacl tool rental place. it's not a tool you'll use everyday and the rental stores are an option.

At least my boat and truck are paid for, woo hoo!

If you go to O'Reilley's or Autozone, you can borrow a front-end kit that includes a puller for tie-rods and such. They usually have the stronger ones in those kits as well. They usually only charge you a refundable deposit.

You can use a grinder or cut off disk. Cut the bearing race in 2 places, preferably, across from each other. Make one cut just thru the race and the other deep enough to "give" when you hit the thru cut with a chisel. Should pop right off.
