I would love to purchase a guided fishing trip for my sweetie. He has never been on a guided fishing trip, and my experience is limited to deep sea fishing with a large group.

Can anyone recommend particular guides in the Port Aransas area? Specifically, inshore fishing would be best, for trout and redfish.

Specifics would be helpful, including how fresh your info is.

Intended recipient of this trip is a male, 40 years old, very humble guy, very fit, but pretty much a city boy who does not have much practice.

Thanks!

Captain Dan Kelly Check him out. He seems to always catch lots of fish. IIRC, he lives in Ingleside, but he fishes the whole area. I believe he can hook you up with some reasonable accommodations at the Light Inn in Rockport should you desire.

Call Capt. Jon Fails. I have fished with him 4 or 5 times and he will put your sweetie on some redfish. Plus, he's just a great guy to spend a day with on the water.
He grew up in the area and has been a liceansed guide for at least 20 years. He is particularly good with helping novice anglers.

I suggest Capt. Kyle Burges, I have gone with him recently and he never fails to put me on the fish. Younger guy, still in college i think, but he can fish.

Just my .02

Capt. Dan, of Jubilee guide Service. Definitely one of the best. the first time I went out with him, I caught so many fish, we weren't able to fit them all into the coolers, one jumbo and one smaller one up front, even if we took the ice out. But then the fish would rot. Relatively inexpensive, too, and in the fall months he used to have a guarantee of at least one redfish over 28 inches. I think he still has it, but he narrowed the months it applied to. He showed us some spots that we never forgot, and whenever we go fishing over there, even if we don't get a guide, those are the only spots we need to know to fill our boats.

I have a tank of fish in my basement... if it were up to me, I would let them loose in my pool so I could fish in my backyard!
