hey Rick, there have been rumors RollOver Pass is going to be shut down, do u have any news about that? We were regulars there almost every weekend and we're hoping it will not be closed, we want to come back down as soon as its possible to fish again. And help bring it back! Any info would be appreciated!

I read recently on the Houston Chronicle website that they are talking of filling in the pass. From what I understand they are going to do it. When? Who knows. What I don't understand is if they are going to close it, why are they dredging the pass right now? The pass was essentialy closed post Ike. Sure seems like a waste of money dredging it if they are going to close it. Doesn't make sense.

Just an update, there are two bills in the Texas Legislature that would allow funding for Patterson to close Rollover. It is not closed YET. Please email Patterson (jerry.patterson@glo.state.tx.us) as well as your local representatives and senators and let them know how you feel. Ask for modifications rather than closing Rollover completely down.

The bills are:
HB 3986
SB 2043

The house bill has a public hearing this Wednesday, April 1st, so spread the word!

What happend with the bill? I think they want it closed because they think it's whats causing the Bilvar to slowly was away. Before the storm they just finished redoing the beaches. They dreged the bay to build up the beaches at Gilcrest.
